Pumpkin Patch, 2011 (Visit #3)

On our third (and final) visit to Dugualla Bay Farm, we went through their corn maze.  I won't lie, I was scared that we'd get lost and have to call 911 to get rescued.  Kidding, I'm not that lame.  Anyway, there was no reason to be scared, the corn maze wasn't nearly as confusing or scary as I thought it would be.  We let the kids run around (and, hooray, we didn't lose them!) and got to see more airplanes.  Never a dull moment around here!  We made it out in 34 minutes, and that was after we stopped for pictures and for a sneaky little snack along the way...

Ready for some fun!

Holy cow, look at all that corn!

This is a Growler, we see them (and hear them) almost on a daily basis.  Doesn't it just make you want to sing?

And they're off!  We had to get ourselves lost before we could really enjoy the corn maze.

Lucas and Poppy, stopping to visit with the corn.

Another plane.  This is not a regular around here and I don't know what it is, but I think it's from the Air Force.  It kept flying over us, which Lucas and Poppy loved.

BOO!  Lucas liked hiding in the corn.

And here's the aforementioned "sneaky snack."  I don't know what possessed us to pick some corn and let Lucas eat it while we were still in the corn maze.  Lucas sure liked it, though!

Then he shared some with Poppy.

Poppy waved at the airplanes every single time they flew over.  So she waved A LOT.

I got this picture with my phone.  Lucas and Poppy were too preoccupied with watching a plane fly over to smile, but it still turned out pretty darn cute.  Lucas knows the drill; he always plugs his ears when he hears a jet coming.  Poppy doesn't.  Not yet, at least.  She's still too busy waving. :-)

Poppy's on the loose!

We made it out alive!  Lucas hid inside the sign while he waited for Poppy and I to finish (we were about thirty seconds behind Lucas and Adam).

This is my favorite Pumpkin Patch 2011 picture of my babies.  It is actually one of my favorite pictures of all time.  Look at these two!  Look how silly and happy they are together!  I love it! :-)

The day after our journey through the corn maze, Lucas and Poppy got a special treat with dinner...corn on the cob!  Can you guess where it came from?  We may have shoplifted...

Pumpkin Patch, 2011 (Visit #2)

We made our second trip to the Pumpkin Patch at Dugualla Bay Farm on October 16.  We went on the weekend so we could enjoy the hayrides that they are offering this year (Saturdays and Sundays only).  It was a lot cooler than our first trip, but we still had a good time.  The hay ride was fun and a P-3 from the base was practicing touch-and-go landings so we got to see it fly right over us...again and again and again!  What a treat!  I think the most fun was had by hopping off the hay bales, though.  Lucas, who hasn't always been the most adventurous boy, could not get enough.  Poppy, who has always been pretty fearless, also enjoyed attempting to hop off the hay bales, but she enjoyed running around like a crazy person even more. :-)

P-3 flying in for the "touch" part of "touch-and-go."

The fam...plus one random stranger.

Hopping Poppy.

Leaping Lucas.

She was convinced she was flying.  You couldn't tell her any different. :-)

After giving it a good try, Poppy discovered that she does NOT like the taste of hay.

Happy to be running around!

There's the airplane.  And there are my little airplane fans giving it their full, undivided attention.

Poppy still loves "air-po-wanes."

More leaping Lucas.  He loved jumping off the hay bales!

Tossing hay was a fun new experience for Lucas.

Poppy tried to toss it and even yelled "Toss!" as she threw her hands up...the only problem was that she forgot to actually let go of the hay.

Pumpkin Patch, 2011 (Visit #1)

Yes, these are the pictures from our first (of three...so far...) visit to the Pumpkin Patch at Dugualla Bay Farm.  We've gone every Columbus Day weekend since we moved here two years ago and it always makes for a fun afternoon.  We made a quick trip to Walmart for a new pair of rain boots for Lucas (although he calls them galoshes, thanks to Sesame Street) and a pair for Poppy.  The selection was pretty slim.  There was only one pair in Poppy's size, so she ended up with fireman boots.  There were a few options for Lucas, but I got him a pair with frogs.  They were both thrilled with their new boots and so happy to be able to stomp through the mud at the pumpkin patch. :-)

The required "picture of kids on top of pumpkins" picture.

They were laughing at (and waving to) the dog that lives on the farm.

Lucas and Poppy checking out the merchandise.

And the pumpkin hunters are off to find the perfect pumpkins!

Lucas thought he found a winner.  He was so proud...

Like it?  He chose THIS rotten thing out of all the beautiful orange pumpkins in the patch!  No, we did not buy it.  I bet we would have got a discount if we had, though!!

Taking a ride.

Lucas picked out his first pumpkin and knew exactly what to do with it.

Poppy wanted nothing to do with the orange pumpkins, but absolutely fell in love with this green one.  She kept saying "Oh, huggie!  Huggie!"

Lucas wandered off with Adam and found two tiny little pumpkins that he decided that he couldn't live without.

Peek-a-boo!

Before we left the farm, Lucas was unfortunately stung (or bit, no idea which it was) by a yellow jacket.  He was more mad than hurt and really just wanted me to take a picture of it.  Here it is!

A fun surprise at Home Depot

On Saturday morning a couple weeks ago, we went out to breakfast (to McDonald's...we're lame like that when it comes to eating out!) and before heading home we were going to swing by Home Depot for a few things.  We had no idea that they were having a safety day complete with firetrucks, police cars, ambulances, and even a rescue boat.  What an exciting surprise!  I didn't have my fancy camera, so I made do with my phone.  Lucas and Poppy loved the whole thing!  And I will admit, Adam and I had fun too. :-) I only wish we knew it was going on in advance, that way we would have shown up early enough for the kids to get some super cool Home Depot aprons!

See Lucas?  He's ready to take that rescue boat out on the open water!

Sitting in the back of a firetruck.  It never gets old for this boy!

Meeting Sparky for the first time.  I think it was worth the small scare to get the coloring book!

Poppy decided to sit down and watch a balloon float away.  She was pretty thrilled!

Getting ready to build his helicopter, Lucas checked out his hammer.

The little construction worker building his new toy.  He was very focused and determined!

And when he was all done, he had a real helicopter that he built all by himself!  Well, he did have a little help from Adam. ;-)

Uh oh.  Time for two naughty kids to get hauled off to jail!!

Poppy looks a little too excited to be sitting in the back of a police car!
