Well, hello Blog! It's been so long I hardly recognize you! (Actually, it's been so long I really did forget how to write a new entry...oops!) A lot has happened in the two + months since I was last here, but all of that is going to take a back seat to the biggest (and most recent) thing that has happened! Today...*drum roll*... Lucas started PRESCHOOL!! We've been preparing him for the start of school for a few weeks and he's been so excited, I was hoping that it didn't wear off before the big day got here. Luckily, he was still thrilled to go when he woke up this morning. We had tons of time to take pictures before we left, so I totally went all paparazzi on my favorite boy. ;-) I found the idea of using a chalkboard (which I made out of a wooden plaque and chalkboard spray paint) on Pinterest. I was a little worried that it wouldn't work out and I didn't have a Plan B, but it came out beautifully (after two coats of primer and five coats of chalkboard paint!). Lucas loved his special sign!

The PRESCHOOLER!
Here's the requisite Backpack Picture. :-) Dinosaurs! Yes!
Poppy wanted to get a closer look at the sign, so she sat down with Lucas. Notice the socks? Yeah...that's what happens when Adam gets her ready in the morning...
Here we are! He had a little nervous smile, but he was excited and ready to play and have fun.
After he stowed his backpack in his cubby (which was labeled "Lucus"), he checked out the classroom. And had another nervous smile. :-)
When we left, Lucas looked a little unsure of himself, but he didn't cry. He went right to work on exploring the playground and he even yelled "Bye bye!" with lots of enthusiasm as we drove away! The three hours he was at preschool went by quickly (after the first hour). I checked the clock more times than I can remember. Having just Poppy home was a little weird. I'm sure we'll get used to it and enjoy our girly time, but today we kind of felt lost without Lucas!
As we drove into the parking lot, we could see the kids on the playground and that was the only time today when I felt like I might actually tear up and cry a little. There was my Lucas! Playing with other kids! Awe!!! His teacher said that he had a small problem with listening and following directions (yep, sounds like Lucas!) because he was too excited by everything going on. Hopefully next time he'll know that he gets to do everything eventually and he doesn't have to run around like a crazy person as soon as he gets there. ;-)
All done for the day! Very happy boy!
Lucas wearing his name-tag that says "Lucus." He didn't want to take it off before his nap!
