So... I've been pretty awful at keeping the blog up the way I resolved to do back on January 1st. It's already May (mid-May, even!) and I haven't written a darn thing since the end of February. To my credit, I did start writing this THREE WEEKS ago, but I never finished and it got pushed to the back-burner while I put the finishing touches on throwing Lucas's 6th birthday party (his first ever party with friends from school, more on that later...hopefully).
We've had a lovely Spring so far (now that it's 2/3 over...). We've done all the best Spring Things; the Tulip Festival, Easter, and tee-ball. Poppy is old enough to play this year, so it has been really fun to see her and Lucas on the same team (the Mudhens, which isn't quite as cute as Lucas's team name last year, the Grasshoppers).
The tulips, as usual, were beautiful. We went on a ridiculously windy day (seriously, the wind was insane) when my parents were visiting. It was quite the experience.
Adam turned 36 at the beginning of April. Lucas and Poppy and I made him this cake, complete with a lightsaber duel made of jelly beans. His birthday was actually the day of the first tee-ball game of the season, so Lucas and Poppy were still dressed to play at cake time.

After I went through all the (*cough* HUNDRED *cough*) pictures I took during the first game, I noticed that I didn't have a single nice picture of Lucas. So I told him I wanted some nice, smiling pictures during the second game. He delivered.

They played half a game in the rain before deciding that it sucked too bad to keep going. Like Poppy's fake smile? This looks really similar to a picture of me that still hangs in the hall at my parents' house.

Easter was nice. The forecast showed rain, but we lucked out with clouds and afternoon sunshine. Lucas and Poppy scored tons of loot from the Easter Bunny.
Amazingly, the Easter Bunny was able to find Lucas the carrot seeds he'd been hoping we'd plant in our garden.

The Easter Bunny also knew how much Poppy enjoys corn on the cob and brought her some cool red corn. She was more excited than it looks in this picture.

I have no idea what they were doing here, but it ended up being just about my favorite picture I took all day. The plastic flamingos definitely add to the general magic of everything, don't you think? ;-)
